Nelson Ward Hustings for 2022 Local Elections with - Jason Fazackarley (Lib Dem) Aimee Gwyther (Lab) Spencer Gardner (Con) Duncan Robinson (Grn) 1. Why are you standing in Nelson? 2. What are the key issues facing this ward? 3. With massive demand for housing behind the rising existence of HMOs, are they meeting a clear need for housing where no other affordable alternative exists, or another pressure on local services, parking & the cohesion of neighbourhoods? a. What's your solution? 4. The controversial Tipner West development, (renamed Lennox Point) seems no longer touted as a possible location for 3,500 of the 17,700 homes the council is targeted to find by central government. a. should it be built on? b. If not there, where? 5. The North End shopping area has seen many shops come and go over the last couple of decades. What should be done to revitalise shopping centres like North End for the 21st century? 6. With the cost of living rising sharply what more should the council be doing to support those in most need or who are not “just about managing? 7. The subject of antisocial behaviour comes up regularly, what do you believe is the root cause and what more needs to be done to tackle it? 8. With Nelson right next to the M275 and the international ferry port, what can be done to improve air quality for its residents?
